Cooper Gay has appointed Shaun Hooper as chief executive officer of Cooper Gay & Co Ltd, the group’s Lloyd’s and London market broker.
Mr Hooper took up the role of interim chief executive officer in December 2010 and the permanent appointment is with immediate effect.
Having joined the firm in July 2009 as head of group operations, he previously worked for Bluefin as chief operating officer.
Commenting on the appointment, Cooper Gay group chief executive, Toby Esser, says: “This is a key appointment and Shaun has demonstrated his ability to drive the business during his time as Interim CEO.”
He adds: “Our continued growth requires a strong and dynamic London presence which I am confident Shaun will deliver with the support of his senior management team.”
Earlier this month, the re/insurance intermediary hired two divisional directors to its London downstream energy team, with the intention of increasing growth in the sector.
Neil Jurd joined from Alesco Risk Management Services, where he led the onshore broking team, and Jon Parker moved from GCFac in London, where he was a senior vice president within the global property division.
